Bold and Saucy

That would describe my first-born.

From the moment he entered the world, he was intense and, well, just totally himself.

At the end of the school year, they hand out character awards, and my boy received the character BOLDNESS. I wasn't overjoyed about that, but realized that it could be a positive thing in the right situation and let it go.

But since then, God has been encouraging me that He has great plans for Greg's boldness. I need to trust that more. And then...

This morning, I happened to overhear Greg and Daniel outside playing with our new next-door neighbor who is 6 years old. I had noticed that he seemed to pronounce Daniel "Danielle" and it was really buggin' me, but I hadn't said anything.

But my first-born couldn't stand it anymore. I heard Greg say loudly, "His name's not DANIELLE, it's DAN-IEL!!"

And from inside the house, I lifted my fist in a silent YES.

Be bold, boy, be bold.

Too funny! We had neighbors at our old house that called Lowell Low. These were adults and no matter how many treats, Christmas cards, thank you notes, etc that I wrote that clearly said L-O-W-E-L-L they still called him "Low". Could be this kid is getting a real kick out of calling Daniel, Danielle. (Jake does this all the time to one of Kyle's friends! LOL - my bold child for ya) Or he's clueless like my old neighbor.

It was our first "parent/teacher" conference with Kelli's first grade teacher, when she called my beautiful, assertive, passionate, and intelligent daughter a "gang leader". (I also decided to take it as a positive comment). Many, many times her boldness has paid off. (Actually it helped her to land a pretty terrific husband!) God ALWAYS has a plan...for the meek and the bold!

Hi there...
Um, can I borrow Greg for a week? My next door neighbor dude calls me "Airy." no lie. Not sure what that's all about. But I get a hearty, "hi airy" pretty much every day. Better than "hi hairy" I guess, but...
