Life and Laundry

Washing machine....dying...losing power...

As we ponder the thought of a new one, does anyone have a machine they'd like to recommend? (Especially those of you with more than 2 children, doing loads non-stop) This thing has to be a lean, mean, cleaning machine - ready for anything I can throw at it, er, into it...

And, yes, I've already suffered from sticker shock when I looked online.

And, yes, it's going to be hard not to fall in love with those Kenmore lovely deep red machines. Sigh.

Jeannie,
I have a front-loader and I love it. Very fast and efficient. Lots of cycle choices. Perfect spot for laundry detergant and softener - digital, easy to read, etc. I didn't buy it - the church did so I don't know about cost. It is a Maytag Neptune. Good luck and happy shopping.

I don't know...mine's as old as the hills. Let me know what you find out, because we're going to be in your predicament sooner or later.

Def. the front loader. 3 to 1 laundry loads, you won't be spending all day doing laundry. The cost is worth it, more energy effecient, also saves on deterg.
I'll never go back...

Jeannie,

We heard from 2 friends of ours not to buy a front loading washer or dryer if you wash your bras in the washer and if you have little ones socks, under age 8 yrs. I guess socks and little things can get stuck in and ruin them. They were told after buying them and after having the repair man to the house a couple times, that they should never have bought front loading until their kids were older. So, I would stay away from them for several more years. One friends just told me this in the past 9 months. We love our Sears Kenmore's and Sears always repairs/maintains them great! Check consumer reports too and recent online reviews. Best of luck. Anxious to hear what you decide. Coleen

Can't help you. My parent's have a front loader, and I admit, I'm jealous. Mine came w/the house, and it's probably as old as the house....LOL
